AGILITY PHASE

The agility phase is designed to test the K9's ability to negotiate a variety of obstacles.  These obstacles are designed to test the K9's physical abilities in addition to its courage to overcome unusual obstacles.  Suspects in the field may attempt to evade the K9 team and this portion of the competition attempts to distinguish those teams who are comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings and physically agile.  There is a certain measure of obedience required during this phase but without the same emphasis as during the obedience phase of the competition.  K9's may encounter jumps, walls, ladders, catwalks, moving bridges, tunnels and a variety of other obstacles.  The imagination is the limit with what the K9 teams may encounter during this phase of the competition.
