K9 KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

On Sunday, January 18th, K9 Ado of the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department was killed in the line of duty.  K9 Deputy Anthony “AJ” Jenkins received a call for a carjacking in progress.  As he responded to the area he spotted the vehicle and a pursuit ensued.  The suspect stopped the car in an apartment complex and took off running.  AJ and his partner, Ado, took off in foot pursuit of the suspect.  As Ado was quickly gaining, the suspect chose to cross a busy street with Ado hot on his heels.  Unfortunately Ado was struck by a passing motorist as he crossed.  Ado suffered major injuries and was killed instantly.

Western States Police Canine Association would like to extend their sympathies and condolences to Deputy Anthony Jenkins and his family, the SSD K9 unit and the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department.  We know Ado was a faithful partner and will be missed greatly.

A memorial service for K9 Ado will be held Wednesday, January 28th, at 10:30 am, at the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, 1000 Riverwalk Way, Carmichael, CA  95608.
