OBEDIENCE PHASE

The obedience phase is designed to test the K9's compliance during a series of in motion and stationary maneuvers in addition to responding to verbal and or hand signals.  Distractions may be utilized during this exercise to determine the level of attention directed at the handler by the K9.  A field steward will direct competing teams to perform a series of maneuvers.  During this phase of the competition, no leashes or other control devices are allowed.  Although not as flashy as the protection phase, a good score here is a must if there is any hope to place in the overall standings for the competition.
