Open: Handler and dog full time law enforcement working dog team

Novice: Full time law enforcement working dog team, competed in no more than two K-9 trials or certified for law enforcement duties for no more than one year.

Class A: competes only against other class A teams
a. Retired K-9's (any dog that was a former street certified law enforcement K-9)
b. Reserve K-9's (dog is trained to level of working law enforcement K-9 but has not yet been assigned or deployed as a working dog in a full time capacity.)
C. On call K9's - dog who is certified for use on streets, but is not working full time and is primarily used on an on-call basis (handler must be a regular or reserve officer)
